CALL FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST: CHAPTER CONTRIBUTION TO A NEW BOOK
Tentative book title: ‘ROOTS AND TUBERS IN GHANA: THE STATE-OF-THE-ART’
Root and tuber crops are very important for domestic consumption and industrial use. The end uses of these crops make them an important component of a targeted strategy for improving food security at the national level and welfare of key actors in the value chain (producers, processors and traders) many of whom are poor women whose livelihoods depend on these crops.
Existing knowledge and academic literature on root and tuber crops in Ghana and their value chains are highly fragmented and scattered in different publications with barely any single book dedicated to all the four crops (cassava, yam, cocoyam and sweetpotato) in the country. The proposed book seeks to comprehensively consolidate major academic research and knowledge generated in the root and tuber industry to provide a holistic view of the current state-of-the-art in order to guide policy discourses and future research direction in the industry.
The DANIDA Root and Tuber Value Chain Project, therefore, invites researchers and academics to submit papers/chapters/sections for review and subsequent addition to the book.
